ONI found that in Sudan pornography was extensively filtered along with some non-pornographic sites which were filtered due to being miscategorized as pornography by the commercial software SmartFilter including the blog BoingBoing which SmartFiltercategorizes Boingboing as a pornographic Web site.

Saudi Arabia

ONI testing found that Saudi Arabia uses the American-made commercial filtering software SmartFilter to block access to the Web sites of Saudi political reformist and opposition groups, sites relating to minority faiths and espousing alternative views of Islam as well as pornography. Saudi Arabia also blocks some global free speech advocates and human rights content.

In Uzbekistan, ONI detected a consistent and substantial filtering system that blocked sites that included numerous political sites and a wide range of sites with human rights contents. Web sites displaying social topics was also detected, including sites with religious, extremist, porn, gay, and lesbian content. Several anonymizers, a few host URLs, and one e-mail site were also within the list of blocked Web sites.

South Korea – Kornet
